The up and coming star

Henry Porter has been outdoing himself each year. He had a great 2017, winning a few titles in the US, England and Argentina. He also had a great start to his 2018, getting to the final of the Ylvisaker Cup, one of the most important tournaments in the 20-goal American season, and now he’s won the fifth annual $50,000 National 12-Goal Tournament at the Grand Champions Polo Club with GSA. It is the second time in a row he’s won that tournament, too!

Henry has great expectations about the upcoming English season: “So far I have got jobs in the medium and low goal for the English Season," he told CLICKPOLOUK. Regardless, he does hope that he'll be able to play in the big league soon: “Hopefully I'll be able to get on a team sometime soon for the Queens Cup and Gold Cup, also my string in England is capable to play it so that will definitely help”.

Many people in English polo think that Porter could be one of the great talents of the sport. Fortunately, the pressure doesn't bother him: “I feel that there is always a cloud of pressure that hovers above you, however for me I like the pressure, it motivates me even more to try my absolute best to get to the top”.

Henry Porter, the up and coming star.

“It's an amazing feeling to have now won the 50k 12 Goal 2 years in a row”

First, GSA had a great performance in the Ylvisaker Cup. Henry Porter's team, with Mariano Gonzalez and Matias Magrini as the star players, made it to the final of the tournament, where they lost to the best organization in the world, Valiente, by 8-6. Previously, in the quarterfinals, Porter had achieved one of the biggest victories in his life given the level of the opponent: a 10-9 win against Pilot, with Facundo and Gonzalito Pieres. In the semifinals, they defeated Colorado, the Jornayvaz's second organization, by 9-8.

“So far the season in Florida has been great. We made it to the finals of the Ylvisaker Cup, which I feel was a great achievement for the team," said Henry about that tournament.

Then came the victory in the fifth annual $50,000 National 12-Goal Tournament at the Grand Champions Polo Club. “It's an amazing feeling to have now won the 50k 12 Goal 2 years in a row. We are still the youngest team to have won it, and the first team to have won it 2 times. I also think is shows how well the team has improved from last year," he commented.

When asked about the prize, Porter answered that: "Because we play so much and there are so many expenses we have to pay, pretty much all of that will go straight to the bills. For sure, we will go and party.”
