For the second year in a row, Harold Hodges climbed to the podium of the Arena Gold Cup 15 Goal, the most sought after official Hurlingham Polo Association arena tournament. Last year he won the title with SUPA Polo (with Sebastian Hancock and Robin Ormerod), but this season he played for SAPA Docklands Polo with brothers Ed and Alec Banner-Eve.
It was no easy task. The final was played on Saturday, February 24, at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club. It was a very close match until the start of the fourth chukker, when Regal Warriors (Raph Singh, Grant Collett and Max Charlton) managed to take a three-goal lead (15-12). However, against all odds, the Banner-Eves managed to score six times in little over a minute, turning the match around and winning 18-15.
Ed Banner-Eve was the Most Valuable Player, while Grant Collett's Zorro was Best Playing Pony.
The subsidiary Silver Cup had Tchogan (Heiko Voelker, Oscar Mancini and Sebastian Dawnay) defeating Sifani (Hilali Noordeen, Michael Henderson and Ryan Pemble) 20-12.
